Terms of Service

The terms on which this newspaper is published and read. Written to be understood rather than to be skipped.

Last updated 25 July 2026

I

Acceptance

Access to and use of thenairastandard.com is subject to these terms. A reader who does not accept them should not use the site.

These terms may be amended as the publication develops. The version published on this page is the version in force, and the date above records when it was last altered. Continued use following amendment constitutes acceptance.

These terms form an agreement between the reader and the publisher of The Naira Standard.

II

Copyright and permitted use

All material published by The Naira Standard, including articles, headlines, photography, charts, page design, source code, and the title and its marks, is owned by or licensed to the publisher and protected by copyright and trademark law.

Readers may read our journalism, link to it without restriction, and quote limited extracts for the purposes of review, criticism, comment or news reporting, provided the title is credited and the original article is linked.

Readers may not republish articles in full, resell or sublicense our material, remove bylines or credits, present our work as their own, or use our material to train machine learning systems without written permission.

Automated scraping and bulk extraction are not permitted. An RSS feed is published for legitimate syndication, and licensing enquiries are welcomed at partnerships@thenairastandard.com.

III

Reader submissions

A reader submitting a tip, letter, photograph, document or other material confirms that it is theirs to submit and that submission breaches no third party right and no obligation of confidence binding on them.

Submission grants the publisher a non exclusive, royalty free licence to publish, edit for length and clarity, and archive the material as part of the journalism of the title. Copyright remains with the author.

The publisher may decline to publish any submission, and may withdraw published material, without obligation to give reasons.

IV

Acceptable use

The site may not be used to commit an offence, to defame or harass any person, to distribute malicious code, or to attempt unauthorised access to our systems or to the data of others.

Interference with the ordinary operation of the site is prohibited, including automated request flooding, circumvention of technical protection measures, and misrepresentation of identity to obtain access.

Access may be restricted or withdrawn from any user in breach of these terms, without notice where the breach is serious.

V

Accuracy and editorial matter

The Standard takes considerable care over accuracy, and its editorial standards govern how. News is nonetheless written at pace and on incomplete information, and no warranty is given that every article is free of error at every moment.

Errors are corrected under our published corrections policy. Readers identifying an error should write to editor@thenairastandard.com.

Nothing published on this site constitutes financial, investment, legal, tax or professional advice. Analysis and opinion represent the view of the named author and are not a recommendation to any reader.

VI

Advertising and external links

This site carries advertising, including advertising served by Google AdSense and other partners. Commercial material is labelled, and advertisers exercise no influence over editorial coverage.

External links are provided where they assist the reader. The publisher does not control linked sites and accepts no responsibility for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

The appearance of a product or service in an advertisement on this site does not constitute an endorsement by the newsroom.

VII

Availability and liability

The publisher aims to maintain continuous availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, outages and events outside our control will occur.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher excludes liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, and any loss arising from reliance on material published on this site.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

VIII

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have exclusive jurisdiction in respect of any dispute arising out of them.

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Enquiries concerning these terms should be sent to hello@thenairastandard.com. Licensing and syndication enquiries should be sent to partnerships@thenairastandard.com.

Republishing our journalism

The Standard licenses its reporting to newsrooms, platforms and institutions on reasonable terms. Write to partnerships@thenairastandard.com setting out what you propose to use and where it will appear.
